We welcome you into the House of the Lord this Lord's Day. It is our prayer that you may experience the bond of God's love with us as we worship His Holy name. The order of our worship service is printed on the back of this bulletin.
Today we celebrate Pentecost and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ. We welcome into our fellowship today, Rev. Jason Kortering. He and his wife will be with us, the Lord willing, for three Sundays.
The offerings for next week will be for the General and Benevolent Funds in the morning and for Western Tuition Ass’t and Sunday School in the evening.
FROM OUR COUNCIL
The Council would like to continue to encourage the congregation to contact Rev. Doug Kuiper as he considers the call we have extended to him. Rev. Kuiper's phone number is 920-326-5642, and e-mail address doug.kuiper@centurytel.net .
Due to the cancellation of the Ascension Day Service, the deacons have rescheduled the offerings from that service. The offering for the Reformed Witness Committee will be taken as the second offering of tonight’s service. The offering for the Emeritus Fund will be taken on June 8 in the evening service.
The Council will meet on Monday, May 12 at 7:00 at the Hull PRC
Those asked to write Thomas Slice this week are: Dan Blankespoor’s and Art Bleyenberg’s.
OUR CHURCH FAMILY
Little Samantha Hoekstra was hospitalized on Friday due to a high bilirubin count. She is expected to return home today. Let us remember this little one and her family in our thoughts and prayers.
As a congregation we would like to extend congratulations to our college graduates. Douglas Hoksbergen graduated from Westwood College out of Chicago and Eric Van Maanen and Joel Westra from Dordt College. May God go with these young men in their next step in life.
NEWS FOR HULL PRC
Mrs. Eunice Brummel was discharged from Sioux Center Hospital Friday morning and transferred to Pleasant Acres.
CHURCH NEWS
As he considers the weighty call to labor as a missionary in the Philippines, Rev. Bill Langerak (Southeast PRC, Grand Rapids) will travel to the field, accompanied by Rev. A. Spriensma. They will leave tomorrow, D.V. During a stay of more than two weeks, Rev. Langerak will preach in the Berean P.R.C., and visit the members and various contacts in Manila and Gabaldon. His wife, Karen, will also join him for part of the trip. They are scheduled to return to the States on May 28.
Classis East meets Wednesday to treat a very weighty agenda.
Myanmar: Although contact has not been made with all the congregations of the PRC in Myanmar, God preserved the lives of the saints in those areas hardest hit. Rev. Titus reports that the storm hit Saturday evening and lasted until about noon Sunday, 13 hours of 130 mph winds. They lost part of their roof. A garage and their chicken coops were destroyed, with all chickens lost. Three other families in the immediate area lost everything, houses and possessions. These families have all crowded into Rev. Titus' house. They are without power, and land line phones are out. Obtaining food and water is difficult, but they are getting by. Rice is ten times the usual cost, so they are buying just the bare essentials to get them through these days. There is no evidence of help, no military, no Red Cross, no police; just neighbors helping neighbors. There are many houses destroyed in the immediate area, and many dead. The roads are impassable. Information is limited to cell phone use and word-of-mouth. Hope Church's deaconate will be handling relief efforts. Continue to pray for God's people in Myanmar. It will take many months for their lives to be restored to normal.
