Grace Protestant Reformed Church; Standale, Michigan

GRACE CHURCH BULLETIN – AUGUST 29, 2010

FROM OUR COUNCIL/CONSISTORY

We warmly welcome all who are worshipping with us today.  May we together grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18) on this Lord’s Day.  Sermons are available on CD by filling out a card on the center table in the narthex or can be downloaded via our website www.graceprc.org.  Live sermons can also be heard over the telephone by dialing 616-272-7414 at anytime during the service. Due to limited availability, we ask the congregation to reserve the phone system for those without internet access.

DEACONS will meet Thursday at 7:30 PM.

CHURCH FAMILY

Doug Kooienga underwent a heart cath this past Thursday. He learned that in his fall last December some damage was done to a wall between two chambers of his heart. He will undergo further testing for this.

GROWING IN GRACE

YOUNG PEOPLES' BREAKFAST On Labor Day (September 6th) our Young People will be hosting a breakfast at Hope School. Breakfast is served from 8-10:30 AM.  Proceeds will be for the 2011 Convention.

MEN’S BIBLE STUDY will meet Thursday morning at 6 AM at New Beginnings in Standale.  We will be considering Mark 2:18ff.

‘...and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.’ (Judges 2:10b). The very first generation to grow up in the land of promise knew nothing about the promises. They did not even know God or His deliverance. What happened? How could they not know about Moses and the burning bush? How could they not know about Pharaoh and the plagues? How could they not know about the Red Sea, Mount Sinai, manna and quail? How could the children grow up comfortably worshiping false gods? What went wrong? Did Israel’s prophets fail? Were the priests unfaithful? No, the failure was not there. Families failed to do what God called them to do in Deuteronomy 6. A generation of children had not been taught the ways of God.                                                                     T. Tripp

May the Lord enrich the participants of the conference and may His Spirit guide the deliberations and decisions taken at the meeting of classis.

This past Monday, the Lord suddenly delivered Pastor Rinat Fazliev to glory.  Pastor Fazliev led a small house-church in Uzbekistan and has been in contact with the PRC through the Contact Committee for several years.  He had been sick for some time, having been afflicted with a severe kidney disease.  Pastor Dilshod Abdulaev, the other PRC contact in Uzbekistan, conducted the funeral.  Rinat is survived by his wife, Galina, and his two children, Mark (11 years old) and Yana (7 years old).  Let us remember the Fazliev family and the Uzbek churches before our heavenly Father's throne, and may our gracious God give them the hope of resurrection and life in Him who is the Resurrection and the Life.
