FROM OUR COUNCIL/CONSISTORY We
warmly welcome all who are worshipping with us today. For the benefit of those who may be
visiting, the order of worship, doxologies, and Apostles’ Creed can be found
on the back of the bulletin cover. Sermons are available on CD/cassette by
filling out a card on the center table in the narthex or can be downloaded
via our website www.graceprc.org. We
welcome Rev. Kuiper and Prof. Gritters to our pulpit and fellowship, and we
thank them for leading us in worship today.
Rev. Dale Kuiper is scheduled to lead our services next Sunday. Grace
Church has experienced a consistent deficit in our General Fund collections for
some time dating back to last year. Currently we are nearly $9,500
behind the budgeted amount for this year. The Council urges the
congregation to remember the cause of Christ in their giving here at Grace
even in these times of economic struggle. In
light of the increased involvement of the Byron Center and Georgetown PR
Churches, the Grace Council has decided to disband our India Contact
Committee and transfer our balance in the India Missions Fund to the Byron
Center PRC, with the request that the money be used specifically for the
Protestant Reformed Fellowship of Vellore. The Council’s ground for this decision
was based on the fact that one or two churches could better serve the work as
opposed to numerous churches. Pray that the gospel message will go
forth and the Church of Christ be gathered from the four corners of the
earth. The
Council will be distributing a letter in the mailboxes describing the
situation in Myanmar and the recent cyclone. This is a letter from Rev.
Kortering who received it from Rev. Titus, minister of the Yangon Myanmar
congregation. Those who wish to donate to the PRCM (Protestant Reformed
Churches of Myanmar) may do so by placing the contribution in an envelope
designated for Myanmar and placing it in the collection plate. |
GROWING IN GRACE Discussion Groups will have their
final meeting TONIGHT at 8:00 p.m.
(due to the cancellation of our February meeting). We will be considering the topic of “Our
Concern For Fellow Christians”. All
are welcome! Please see Lindy Hanko to join a group. Women’s Bible Fellowship will meet THIS Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. at
the church. Questions for II Peter 3
are in the May issue of Grace Notes. The S.B. article for after-recess
discussion can be found on the back table in the narthex. All women are welcome (no nursery
provided). We hope to see you there! REQUESTED ANNOUNCEMENT The
Young Peoples’ Society thanks the congregation for the fund-raising donations
received at our recent Ice Cream Social.
A profit of $350 will benefit the 2008 PRYP convention. We appreciate your support!
DENOMINATIONAL NEWS Classis East will meet in regular
session this Wednesday at 8:00
a.m. at First PRC in Holland. Elders
Larry Meulenberg and Larry VanOverloop are the delegates from Grace Church. One item of business will be the request of
Faith's daughter congregation to organize. The rest of the lengthy
agenda includes five protests against the previous work of classis, as well
as an appeal of a member against a consistory. May God give the
delegates wisdom to do His will. Philippines visit: Rev. A. Spriensma and Rev. Bill Langerak
will be leaving for the Philippines this week Monday. Besides preaching for the Berean PRC of the
Philippines, they plan to observe the celebration of the Lord's
Supper, visit the church extension work in Gabaldon, and meet with the
Bastion of Truth Reformed Church pastors. Rev. Spriensma will be with Rev. Langerak
for ten days, and then Rev. Langerak's wife, Karen, will join him as
they consider the call extended to them to work in the Philippines. Calls/Trios: Rev. Bill Langerak is considering a call to
be missionary to the Philippines. Rev.
Doug Kuiper is considering a call from Calvary PRC. |
