Pentecost

Today we remember and thank God for the gift of the Spirit of Christ poured out on the church.  In John 16, the Spirit is called, "Another Comforter."  He is the Comforter who "beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God" (Romans 8:16).  By the Spirit of Christ, our Savior has blessed us with all the blessings of salvation and He gives the church power to witness to Him, as we shall see in Acts 1:8.  Let us give thanks to God for the great blessing of the Spirit of Truth working God's salvation in our hearts and lives.

Baptism

The Consistory approved the baptism requests of Nick Dykstra, for their daughter, Madison Renae, and of Ross Zuverink, for their son, Levi Michael.  Baptism is scheduled for May 25, the Lord willing.

Catechism

The Consistory decided to move the three afternoon catechism classes to Monday afternoons at the same times because there were many conflicts on Wednesdays.

Church Clean-up

Thanks to all who came to the church grounds clean-up this past Monday night.

Our Church Family

Birth:  As was announced last Sunday, Ross and Rhonda Zuverink were blessed with the birth of a son, Levi Michael, a week ago Friday.  Both Rhonda and Levi are doing well.
Our Sick:  Mrs. Kraker found out this past week that her recent round of strong chemotherapy treatments has not been as effective as they hoped, so they are considering using a different kind of chemotherapy.  These treatments have made her very weak.  She also had an out-patient procedure this past Thursday to drain fluid from her lungs.  Let us remember her and her family in our prayers.

Marriage Conference

You are invited to attend the marriage conference “God and Marriage” this week Friday at Hudsonville Prot. Ref. Church at 7:30 PM.  Invite a neighbor or take a friend.  Nursery will be provided and refreshments afterward.  There is still a need for nursery attendants for the last two speeches of the marriage conference.  Please help out by signing up in the back of church.

·       Pastor Eriks sent out an email this past week concerning the effects of the cyclone in Myanmar on the members of the PRC of Myanmar, with whom our churches have some contact.  If you would like a copy of this, there are some available on the back table.  Let us remember the church in Myanmar, as they go through this very trying time.

Requested Announcements

From the Council of Hope PRC (Grand Rapids, MI):  As you know from news reports in this past week, a devastating cyclone has struck the country of Myanmar.  The Yangon congregation of the Protestant Reformed Churches of Myanmar was hit particularly hard. While no members were seriously injured, three families had their homes destroyed and Rev. Titus, our contact in the PRCM, had his home damaged. The conditions in Myanmar at present are very difficult, with no electricity, widespread destruction, as well as food and water shortages.  The Hope Council, using a special fund created to help the saints in Myanmar, sent emergency aid to the PRCM this past week and is keeping in close contact with Rev. Titus to determine how much more help will have to be sent as the situation unfolds.  We commit the needs of the saints in Myanmar to our Heavenly Father who works all things according to His perfect will.
