Announcements
Today, we remember
the outpouring of the Spirit of Christ upon the Church on the day of Pentecost.
After
completing a week of self-examination, we will remember the Lord’s death
till He comes again through the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper in our morning
worship service. Those who are not
communicant members of the congregation need to obtain permission from our
Consistory to partake with us this morning.
The thank offering, received after the sacrament has been administered,
is for the poor. The afternoon worship
service will be an applicatory service.
Our
Consistory received the membership transfers of Miss Vanessa Holthouser (from the Loveland PRC), Mr. Matthew Span (from
the Lynden PRC), and Mr. Robert Span (from the First-Edmonton PRC). We welcome these young adults officially into
our congregation as communicant members and welcome them to the Lord’s Table
with us this morning.
The baptism of Hayley Alana, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan
Gallagher, was approved to be administered on Sunday, June 1, in the morning
worship service.
Newsletters
from The Reformed Witness Hour Committee and from the DMC, regarding
its “Mission Awareness Day” in mid-June in Grand Rapids, MI, are available on
the bulletin table.
There will be refreshments served following the afternoon service
today. Servers: Melissa Tolsma and Mrs. Elly Wierenga. Next Week: Sarah
Linker and Mrs. Marsha Span.

News
~From the Council of Hope PRC (Grand
Rapids, MI): As you know from news reports in this past week, a
devastating cyclone has struck the country of Myanmar. The
Yangon congregation of the Protestant Reformed Churches of Myanmar was hit
particularly hard. While no members were seriously
injured, three families had their homes destroyed and Rev. Titus, our
contact in the PRCM, had his home damaged. The conditions in Myanmar at
present are very difficult, with no electricity, widespread destruction, as
well as food and water shortages. The Hope Council, using a special fund
created to help the saints in Myanmar, sent emergency aid to the PRCM this
past week and is keeping in close contact with Rev. Titus to determine how
much more help will have to be sent as the situation unfolds. We commit
the needs of the saints in Myanmar to our Heavenly Father who works all things
according to His perfect will.
~As
part of Rev. W. Langerak’s consideration of the Doon PRC’s call to serve as a foreign missionary in the
Philippines, he will be travelling to the Philippines tomorrow, with Rev. A. Spriensma to become familiarized with the Berean PR congregation, administer the Lord’s Supper in the
Berean congreagtion, visit
the work in Gabaldon, and visit with the pastors of
the Bastion of Truth Reformed Churches in the Philippines (4 congregations),
which are in the metro Manila area. His
wife will accompany Rev. Langerak for part of the
trip. They plan to return on May
28. May the Lord bless them, and may
this visit serve to provide a missionary for this field of labor,
God willing.
~Classis
East will meet on Wednesday, May 14, at the
First-Holland PRC. The agenda includes
protests against decisions of the previous meeting and a request of Faith PRC
to establish a daughter congregation.
May the Lord bless the delegates with wisdom and strength for the deliberations.
All
our plans the Lord willing
