News
Calls: Rev.
W. Langerak (Southeast) is considering the call from Doon PRC serve as missionary
to the Philippines. Rev Doug Kuiper
(Randolph, WI) is considering the call to Calvary PRC.
Classis East will meet this Wednesday at Holland PRC. Rev. Kleyn and Elder Haveman
will represent our Council. The agenda includes a request from the Faith
daughter group to organize and several protests against the January decisions
of classis. We pray that the Lord will bless the work of classis.
Contact Committee: Let
us continue to remember in prayer the delegation of Rev. Koole and Rev. Haak
who are currently in Singapore.
Other News:
· Rev. Spriensma and Rev. B. Langerak will be leaving
for the Philippines tomorrow. Besides preaching for the Berean PRC, they plan to
celebrate the Lord's Supper, visit the church extension work in Gabaldon, and
meet with the Bastion of Truth Reformed Church pastors. Rev. Langerak's wife, Karen, plans to join him
later as they consider the call to work in the Philippines.
· Last weekend a massive cyclone hit southern Myanmar in
Yangon, in the area where some of the congregations of the PRC of Myanmar are
located. Thankfully, none of the members of these churches were killed, but
many of them have suffered the loss of their houses and possessions and are
living from day to day on very small amounts of food. Our Hope PRC has been working with these
churches and their pastor, Pastor Titus, over the past several years and are
working at present to give what help they can to relieve these saints. Let us
do what we can for these saints by remembering them in prayer before God, who
is the sovereign of the storm, and who will be with them in this difficult
time. Our council will consider how we can help materially; meanwhile,
contributions can be made through the Hope PRC deaconate.

Quote for Contemplation
Do
not read over the word "suddenly." You would miss one of the most
wonderful characteristics of the day of Pentecost. There is something
indescribably beautiful in the sudden rush of a mother when she spies her lost
child, the childe that had been in mortal danger. When the child is seen by the
loving eye of mother, she rushes suddenly forward to grasp the darling to her bosom
and envelops it in the embrace of sweetest love. There is no love like the love
of a mother. That is, on this earth. But hold on! There is a love that far
transcends the love of all mothers, multiplied a million times. It is the love
of God. The fullness of time had come when the love of God would be spread
abroad in the hearts of His children as never before. And so there is that
tender suddenness and that loving rush, even in the sound as of a mighty wind.
